I entered this space in 1990 starting a job with Tennant Company. After 4 years of exceeding all the plans Tennant Co. set for my goal attainment, I realized I could not break the glass ceiling without taking a promoting and having to move out of Maine. My goals in life then and today is about paying attention to work / life balances, and for me living in Maine and working in the Northeast was most important for a fulfilling life. In March of 1994 I decided to leave a company I loved and move into the contracting business with a partner still maintaining the relationship with Tennant Company by installing their floor coating products and working with the factory direct sales team developing opportunities. It’s been a long ride, and we grew ICS to Tennant’s second largest flooring contractor. Today we continue to maintain, develop, and grow our relationships with customers and venders. I and we at ICS believe relationships are a key to our success and we continue to grow our business with our relationships to be the core of our success.

Kris Coburn

Owner

Kris Coburn started as a laborer here at ICS in 1995. He quickly learned the ins and outs of the business and became proficient at installing and designing epoxy, cementitious urethane mortar, and polished and sealed flooring. He quickly rose up the ladder from laborer to crew leader to operations manager, and eventually owning part of the company. Today Kris oversees the operations and helps bring in new opportunities for the business.

Shane Bechtel

Project Manager

Shane Bechtel grew up in the flooring industry. His father Rich worked for Tennant Company for 38 years. He started going on sales calls and demos at age 10 and sweepers, scrubbers, and floor coatings were dinner table conversation his whole life. He followed in his father’s footsteps and started working at Tennant Company in 2012 as technical sales specialist. In 2013 became an Account Manager for the industrial equipment side of the business growing the business over 350% in 7 years. In 2019 he moved into the Northeast Coatings specialist role managing the flooring installer contractors throughout the Northeast. Tennant Company sold the coatings side of the business to Sherwin Williams in 2021 and Shane moved into the Northeast Coatings Manager role for Rio Flooring Systems. Throughout this entire journey Shane had always partnered with ICS in every business role. In 2022 Shane left Rio Flooring systems started to do project management for ICS and he hasn’t looked back since. He is extremely passionate about work, his children, boating, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, and going to gym.

Pat Clarke

Project Manager

Pat Clarke graduated from Westfield University in 1993, after which he worked for Sherwin Williams from 1992- 1998. He was a management trainee, promoted to store manager in 1995 and promoted to Architectural sales rep in 1997. He has received work sale awards in 1996 and 1997. Pat left Sherwin Williams in 1998 to join Engineered Industrial flooring to become co- owner from 1998 to 2001. In 2001 he took roll of Coating Representative at Tennant company for the New England region from 2001 to 2009. He won sales awards in 2005, 2007, and 2009. In 2009 Pat started Concrete Renovations inc., He ran this business from 2009 to 2019. With Pats help the business grew from zero to 3mil. He has since started with ICS at the end of 2019 until present.
