Idexx Pharmaceuticals built a west addition in 2009, doubling their production space at their corporate headquarters in Portland, ME. Much of their production space has historically been vinyl tile, but they were looking for a lower maintenance alternative.
Working together with ICS (Industrial Concrete Services) Idexx, selected a thin mil, high traffic concrete coating system for 80,000 sq. ft. – roughly half the total addition of 150,000 sq. ft. A variety of other floor coatings were used as well, to address area specific concerns: 1/8” resinous quartz flooring was applied in critical lab areas, and AS 175 anti slip coating was used for particularly slippery areas (the same coatings used for slip resistance on aircraft carriers).
The resulting floor systems have been in place for 4 years now, in which Idexx has not incurred the maintenance cost of re-waxing the VCT floor they had used previously. ICS Coatings continues to work with Idexx to address their floor coating needs.
